Quality Progress Print & Web Redesigns
January 7, 2008 |
I just wanted to send out my congratulations to the American Society for Quality (ASQ) for their redesign of Quality Progress Magazine. I’ve been reading Quality progress now for close to 8 years and I always felt like the design was a little out-dated. There have been layout changes over the years, but none of those changes were as apparent as the latest redesign which includes a brand new ‘QP’ logo and pages that look clean, crisp and brighter overall. Best of all the quality (ahem…) of the articles remains second to none.
The redesign of the magazine is supposed to match a full-blown redesign/creation of QualityProgress.com. There is a huge push at the end of each article to visit www.qualityprogress.com for additional info and related articles. The domain at the foot of each page has also changed from www.asq.org to www.qualityprogress.com. This makes sense too considering the new Quality Progress website is expected to expand the coverage of the magazine with more frequent updates bridging the gap between delivery of the magazine. A social media networking section of the site should also provide more value to Quality Progress subscribers.
My only issue with the print and website redesign is that (at the time of this post) the new website is not accessible!!! As excited as I am about the fresh new layout and design of the magazine, I may be more excited and interested in seeing the website since I spend most of my time online. I am willing to limit the negative customer satisfaction points to a minimum since I feel they did a fantastic job on the magazine. Would I have liked to have been able to get to the new website right away? You bet. It would also be a nice if the Quality Progress website home page had a place to sign up via email to let interested parties know when the website is live and ready for use. But, again, the quality for me is in the recognition, follow through and success of the magazine redesign - if the website is on par with the magazine result, I’ll forget about this minor glitch.
